Meet Pastor Jordan

Founder and Senior Pastor of Greater Blessed Hope Missionary Baptist Church Waymon S. Jordan, Sr. is a Charlotte, North Carolina-native who currently resides in Waxhaw. He has been married for 46 years to Lady Veola L. Jordan. They have four children: Pamela, Waymon Jr., Timothy, and Urundi. He is also the proud grandfather to 11 little ones.

Early Education & First Start

Pastor Jordan graduated in 1963 from Second Ward Senior High School in Charlotte. From 1964 through 1966, he received his formal education from Johnson C. Smith University, East Coast Bible College, and Carver College.

In 1972, Pastor Jordan was called into the ministry and licensed at First Mt. Zion Baptist Church. This is the same church where Rev. F.G. Lowery served as pastor. In addition to his pastoral services, Pastor Jordan has been employed for more than 15 years with the Grier Funeral Home in Monroe, North Carolina.

Talented Musical Background

Throughout his years of ministry, Pastor Jordan has been known for his strong musical abilities, including playing the piano and teaching choirs. He served for numerous years as the Minister of Music at several churches, including Antioch Missionary Baptist, First Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Gethsemane Baptist Church, St. Luke Baptist Church, Salem Baptist Church, Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church, and Marvin A.M.E. Zion Church.

Foundation & Beliefs

Pastor Jordan is a man of God who believes in discipline and applying God's Word to your life. He is a firm believer that everything you need to succeed in this life and the next is already inside of you. He believes worship gets God's attention and praise gives you the victory.

Loving God's People

Pastor Jordan is also a lover of God's people. As a giver, he stands on the principles found in the gospel of St. Luke 12:48(b): "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more."
